Welcome ~ Namasté
I, Dr. Shakuntala Rajagopal, affectionately known as Dr. Shaku, was born in Kerala, South India, and came to the United States in my early twenties. After a long and distinguished career in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, I retired to be an active grandmother, while pursuing my passions of writing, painting, and gardening.
Now I act as Matriarch to my three daughters, three sons-in-law, two grandsons, and to an extended family numbering fifty-two in the United States alone.
My first novel, RADHA, was published in November, 2007
I have won awards for my poems in the Writers’ Digest Annual Competitions.
My oil paintings were chosen by the Algonquin Township Public Art Program, on multiple occasions, and were displayed locally for one year at a time.
I contribute to the AKMG Annual Souvenirs: (Association of Kerala Medical Graduates)
I belong to:
The Barrington Writer’s Workshop in Barrington, Illinois,
Off Campus Writers’ Workshop in Winnetka, Illinois,
Algonquin Area Writers Group, and,
Desilit Writers International.
I live in the Chicago area.
What a joy to find some blogs by you that Helen pointed me, too. Larry and I have thought of you and Raj often and the good times in Inverness. We were so sad to hear of his passing.
